Sal Miller

Hi, I’m Sal and I have had a passion for art since the third grade. (We won’t talk about how long ago that was!) Suffice it to say that my love for the arts just kept on growing until I found myself a teacher of the same.

I love teaching students of all ages how line, shape, color and texture can be powerful expressive avenues for the communication of ideas and feelings. One of my favorites sayings to students was “to look around, find things you love, explore the possibilities, work hard and discover a way to communicate visually with others.”  When you do that, the opportunities to be creative are endless and so rewarding.

After retiring from teaching and feeling at loose ends, a friend encouraged me to try quilting. I couldn’t believe what I could do with all that colorful fabric. I chastised myself for not following my own mantra of exploring possibilities! Needless to say, I was hooked!

While I was busy immersing myself in the fun of quilting, I was fortunate to meet  the creative director for Camelot Cottons, at a Guild meeting. One thing led to another and the next thing I knew, I was showing her some of my art and now, lucky me, I have my first line debuting for Camelot.

I hope you enjoy working with my palette as much as I enjoyed designing it. It’s been a wonderful journey from my childhood discovery of art to teaching and now designing. May my fabrics inspire you on a creative journey as well!
