Ramona Cummins

This is Ramona from Anamosa, Iowa. I was raised in the country and we all know how inspirational the countryside can be, especially if you have an artistic flair!

My mother had a passion for art and so art and design have always been a part of my life. During my childhood, my mother would have ‘art adventures’ on the weekend. I never knew what new medium I would be introduced to. It might be anything from wood carving to silk painting – I didn’t care, as I loved it all and still do!

During my adult years I have focused mainly on clay – exhibiting at several local galleries. I have also found pleasure in silk painting. The painting is what has led me here, to Camelot Cottons, and why you are reading about me!

It was pure serendipity that put me on the path to fabric design. I went to a talk by a fabric designer at a local store. I showed her some of my drawings and she showed them to the Camelot Creative Director. The rest is history, as they say!

My first line is called Kimono Classics. I love Asian art – the simplicity of the designs. Asian art can look simple, but on closer inspection you can see the detail that went into a piece. I strive to do the same with my fabric designs. Rich colors and simplicity in each pattern. I am truly blessed with a supportive husband, three children and the ability to work from my home as an artist for Camelot Cottons. Thanks Mom, those wonderful magical "art adventure” weekends have paid off!
